Here are some steps to follow:

  1. Find out what your students bring with them to school by asking them to talk about their other countries and the family members they have there.

  2. Ask your students to choose some words from their other languages and encourage them to share them with the rest of the class.

  3. Place your students in small groups or pairs and ask them to find out any information they can concerning their schoolmates.

  4. Encourage your students to visit each others’ homes in order to hear the languages and experience the everyday life of their schoolmates.

  5. Put all this information to paper and translate it in as many languages as possible.

  6. Encourage your students to be creative and daring with their languages and have fun with them.

  7. The final product(s) can be presented to the rest of the school with the parents present.
